Disa aurata

   D. aurata has the smallest range of the five main species being considered here. It occurs in the mountains near Swellendam. It has some similarity to D. tripetaloides and was at one time considered to be a sub-species. D. aurata is an obvious starting point in the production of strong yellow hybrids. Line breeding of D. aurata, crossed successively with D. uniflora, produces the hybrids shown here.
