There are over 430 registered Disa hybrids. Apart from a handful of them, they are all derived entirely from two or more of the five main species dealt with on this web site. Many of them owe the bulk of their genetic makeup to D. uniflora, so it is hardly surprising that their flowers are similar to those of the uniflora in terms of number, size, form, color and markings (veins in the dorsal sepal). Some hybrids show spots in the dorsal sepal, and occasional crosses are seen with little or no pattern of marks in the dorsal. Very rarely are there any markings on the lateral sepals, but they can be attractive as in the splash petals of Korean Tiger JO. Disa hybrid database: Disa registered hybrids This database was originally created by my friend Michael Gallagher, a very successful Disa grower some years ago. Mike is no longer with us. He gave me the database and I have tried to keep it up to date with new Disa hybrid registrations. The awards column of the database is not up to date, as I don't have a way of keeping track of Disa awards. If you find any errors or omissions in the database, please let me know. |
